We are requesting submissions of bleached coral photos (at any stage of bleaching and any coral type). We are a group of scientists and a not-for-profit (Citizens of the Great Barrier Reef) based at the University of Queensland and James Cook University in Australia building a machine learning model that will identify and quantify coral bleaching in still images. To do so, we need thousands of images of bleached coral, so are requesting photos taken anywhere in the world. We are primarily looking for 'seascape' photos (i.e. any photos captured on snorkel or SCUBA), rather than traditional photo-quadrat transect photos.

We aim to make the AI model freely available for anyone who might find it useful.

We would be very grateful for any contributions, which can be directly added to this drive:

Please note that any submissions will effectively be licensed under creative commons, and so you should be happy for them to be used to publish research and open access products.

Please don't hesitate to reach out for any questions. You can reach me on Christopher.lawson at uq.edu.au<mailto:Christopher.lawson at uq.edu.au>

You can find out more about the broader program at www.greatreefcensus.org

Many thanks,
Chris
