Dr. Tyler Cyronak from Georgia Southern University and Dr. Lauren Nadler
from the University of Southampton are leading a National Science Foundation
(NSF) International Research Experiences for Students program to explore the
coral reefs of Australia for US-based graduate students. Students will
explore various disciplines related to coral reef science with the goal to
provide future coral reef scientists with the transdisciplinary perspective
necessary to study, preserve, and restore coral reef ecosystems in a
changing world.

To participate, you must be a US-based (US citizen or permanent resident)
graduate student (MS or PhD candidate) studying subjects related to coral
reef science. During the course, we will visit two iconic field stations on
the Great Barrier Reef, the Heron Island Research Station and the Australia
Museum's Lizard Island Research Station. Students will explore the diverse
disciplines of coral reef science through lectures, class work, field
immersions, and independent projects.

The 2024 course will be offered from May 5th to June 13th. Students will be
engaged in two weeks of online lectures before the field portion of the
course related to coral reef science, science communication, science
writing, statistical analysis, and data interpretation and visualization.
All travel-related expenses are covered by the NSF grant.

Key dates for the course:

*	January 17th - Informational webinar
