The book "Soft Corals and Sea Fans: A comprehensive guide to the tropical
shallow water genera of the central-west Pacific, the Indian Ocean and the
Red Sea." by Fabricius and Alderslade, published in 2001, has a digital
copy that has been posted online. It is long out of print. It is to my
knowledge the only field guide to the soft corals of the Indo-Pacific.

Abstract
Soft corals and sea fans are amazingly beautiful and abundant inhabitants
of the World’s coral reefs. This richly illustrated field and laboratory
guide opens the door to the understanding and identification of the over 90
genera known from the warm shallow waters of the Central and Western
Pacific, the Indian Ocean, and the Red Sea. The guide makes identification
easy through underwater photographs, detailed drawings of the skeletal
elements, and clear descriptions of distinctive features, habitat,
abundance and World distribution. Photographic plates cover the major
growth forms, and include pictures of entire animals in their natural
environment along with close-up photographs of characteristic details. An
extensive introduction represents a rich source of information about the
biology and ecology of reef-inhabiting soft corals and sea fans, and
explains the few technical terms used. The book should be of equal value to
professional scientists, students, divers, aquarium owners and nature
enthusiasts.

Cheers, Doug

World subsidies for fossil fuels reached an all-time high of over $1
TRILLION in 2022, the last year for which data is available. The subsidies
MUST end.
