Coral Aquaculture Supervisor, Job ID 54002, Apply at careers.nature.org
The Coral Aquaculture Supervisor oversees day to day operations of the land based nursery aquaria facilities at TNC's Coral Innovation Hub on St. Croix, USVI. They are responsible for supervision of lab staff, vendor selection and contractor management, maintenance, and management of aquaria systems, and ensuring the well-being of reared corals and experiments conducted in the facility. Must have experience independently designing, building, managing and maintaining aquaculture systems in a public aquarium, research laboratory or commercial aquaculture setting. They should be able to operate and repair various types of relevant equipment and machinery (aquarium pumps, filters, seawater intake and tanks). Applications must be submitted by September 25, 2023. Salary range for this position is $62,000-$75,000.

The Diving Operations Specialist will support field based coral restoration efforts and provide technical expertise and leadership to support USVI boating and diving operations at the Coral Innovation Hub. They will help teach dive trainings, manage equipment, drive and maintain TNC vessels, and perform in-water coral restoration including nursery maintenance, outplanting, and monitoring. The ideal person is a scuba instructor with scientific diving experience who is familiar with marine ecosystems. Previous or current AAUS authorization or equivalent preferred. Salary Range: $50,000-$60,000.

The Coral Conservation Practitioner will provide implementation, monitoring and research support for ongoing coral restoration efforts at the Coral Innovation Hub in St. Croix USVI. They will participate in all aspects of coral restoration projects in the field, the land based nursery and in an office setting including planning, execution and documentation of asexual and sexual coral propagation, coral outplanting, and coral reef monitoring. They will also contribute to the hub's mission to refine and improve restoration techniques through experimental design; data collection, processing and analysis; and reporting. Qualified candidates will possess a bachelor's degree in marine science, ecology, natural resource management or related field and will have scientific diving experience (AAUS authorization or equivalent). Experience with image analysis and/or photogrammetry and related software (metashape, TagLab, CoralNet) considered a plus. Experience living and working in the USVI preferred. Pay Range: $22.00-24.00/hour.

The Coral Conservation Project Coordinator will provide administrative and project management support for ongoing coral restoration efforts around St. Croix. They will support the VI Coral Program Director in the management of coral conservation projects including but not limited to the following activities: data collection in the field; track project timelines and deliverables; produce scientific, technical and grant progress reports; negotiate with vendors, prepare contracts and manage invoices; coordinate with visiting researchers; and support the development of proposals. The ideal candidate should have experience in planning and conducting marine field work and scientific diving and have a demonstrated ability to work well within a team. They should have experience managing multiple projects including timeline and budget management, reporting, and vendor/subcontractor management. Salary Range: $50,000-60,000.
